I'm getting my little suitcase ready as I type this post, tomorrow I'll be traveling to sunny Sicily! It's going to be a very short holiday, but I cannot wait to hug my lovely Grandmother and reunite with my family. I've been very much missing the sea scent, the taste of mulberry granita, the quiet in the afternoon, the prickly pear cactuses lining the streets and the feeling of time passing more slowly... ahh I know I won't be coming back home easily! I'm not sure if I'll be able to pay a little visit to the beach as well (I'm bringing my swimsuit just in case), but one thing is for sure: I'll be eating plenty of ice cream!

Sto preparando la valigia, domani a quest'ora sarò finalmente in Sicilia tra le braccia della mia fantastica nonna! Sarà un viaggio brevissimo, ma non vedo l'ora di rivedere la mia famiglia e ritrovare i profumi e i sapori di questa terra a me tanto cara. Il vento di mare, la granita di gelsi, la quiete del pomeriggio, i fichi d'india che costeggiano le strade e la sensazione che il tempo scorra più lentamente... ahh non vorrò più tornare a casa! Non so se riuscirò a fare anche un saluto al mare (il costume però me lo porto), ma una cosa è certa: mi rimpinzerò di gelato!

Bicicletta

I know, my tire's almost flat! That's because last Sunday Alf and I had the loveliest afternoon riding our bikes all around town! I always say how beautiful Turin is, but when you're cycling it's even more charming, and when the sun shines over the baroque buildings in the city centre, the Alps look perfectly sharp in the horizon and the temperature is *just perfect* I'm in complete peace with the universe :) Of course our ride was rewarded with a huge gelato with cream on top, but in the history of this blog I've never really managed to document that, I'm the fastest ice cream eater! 
My bike is a vintage Bianchi from february 1955 (the date is engraved in one of the pedals), when I bought her a few years back she immediately reminded me of my beloved red Bianchi from my childhood, I like to think that it's her 'adult' version... And whenever I ride this bike, I daydream of the many places she visited and the memories she treasures. She is old and worn, but still has plenty of miles and adventures ahead.

Eh lo so, ho la ruota un po' sgonfia, ma è perchè domenica io e Alf abbiamo pedalato tantissimo per tutta Torino! La mia città è splendida e lo dico sempre, ma con la bici lo è ancora di più e quando c'e' il sole che illumina le facciate barocche dei palazzi del centro, le Alpi si vedono nitide all'orizzonte e la temperatura è perfetta, mi sento davvero in pace col mondo :) Ovviamente il nostro giretto è stato premiato da un super gelato con panna, ma nella storia di questo blog non c'è mai stato verso di documentare la cosa, i miei gelati finiscono sempre troppo in fretta! 
La mia bici è una Bianchi del febbraio 1955 (c'è la data incisa su uno dei pedali), quando l'ho comprata qualche anno fa mi ha ricordato immediatamente la Bianchi rossa fiammante che avevo da piccola e che mi ha portata ovunque, mi piace pensare che sia la sua versione adulta... E ogni volta che la porto a spasso mi chiedo quanti luoghi abbia visitato e quante storie potrebbe raccontare, è vecchia e un pò ammaccata, ma in perfetta forma ed ha ancora un sacco di strada ed avventure davanti a sè.

Time is passing by very quickly since the day we launched the collection and right now the to-do list on my desk is giving me a veeery bad look. Let's just say that it hasn't been easy handling my full time job on the movie, the illustrations, the occasional storyboard teaching at the film school, the blog and the handmade shop all at the same time... I think I'll soon need a secretary :)
Ahh anyways, despite all these things to do I always seem to find a way to waste hours spend interesting time on pinterest, so here are a few of the things that made it to my spring wishlist.

I giorni stanno scorrendo velocissimi dal giorno in cui abbiamo lanciato la collezione e la mia lista delle cose da fare mi guarda sempre più minacciosa. Diciamo che non è stato proprio semplice gestire allo stesso tempo il mio lavoro a tempo pieno sul film, le illustrazioni, le docenze di storyboard nella scuola di cinema, il blog e il negozio handmade... di questo passo prima o poi mi servirà una segretaria :) 
Ma vabbé, tutti questi impegni non mi hanno certo impedito di perdere ore scovare nuovi tesori su pinterest, ed ecco qui alcune delle cose che sono finite nella mia lista dei desideri.
