Lazzari A/W 2012

It's pretty much the same story every year: as soon the evenings get chillier and I fall into the temptation of a cosy sweater (see last post...), I am all of a sudden ready for autumn, looking forward to wrapping myself into a scarf, wearing warm tones, terracotta tights and pretty coats. And this A/W collection from Lazzari doesn't help, as once again I want every single thing starting with that cute deer blouse, paired with the brown maxiskirt with buttons all down the front. What I really like this season is the perfect mix between girly frocks, tailored outerwear pieces (oh, that double breasted coat..) and boyfriend wool trousers.

C'e' poco da fare, e' un metodo infallibile: basta un filo di vento fresco, si cede alla tentazione del primo maglioncino e via, parte la voglia di autunno, di sciarpe avvolgenti, di colori caldi, di calze tinta terracotta e graziosi cappottini. E la nuova collezione autunno-inverno di Lazzari non aiuta, perche' tanto per cambiare vorrei tutto, a cominciare dalla camicetta coi cerbiattini abbinata alla gonna lunga coi bottoni. Oltre ai capi zuccherosi poi c'e' anche una nota maschile che bilancia il tutto: i capispalla dal taglio deciso (oh, quel doppiopetto..) e i pantaloni mi piacciono moltissimo.

Even if the temperature here is still so warm that my two poor cats stay all day flat on the floor like seals on the beach, summer is about to give way to autumn breezes and trees know that well. I still want to pay a visit to the sea and eat countless ice creams before being ready for golden leaves, but the other day I couldn't resist that gorgeous end of August sunset light and forced Alf to have a little walk with me in the park nearby.

Per quanto le temperature siano ancora tali da far stare i miei gatti stesi tutto il giorno sul pavimento come fochette spiaggiate, l'estate sta per lasciare il suo posto all'autunno e gli alberi se ne sono accorti. Ho ancora almeno un saluto al mare e almeno un centinaio di gelati nella mia lista, prima di entrare in modalità "ode alle foglie dorate", ma l'altra sera non ho resistito alla luce del tramonto di fine agosto e ho costretto Alf a fare una passeggiata con me nel parco vicino casa. 

This beautiful cloud of tulle is a gift from Jaclyn of Audrey Grace, and it's been made by one of my favorite independent designers, Alexandra Grecco (I'm sure you are familiar with her work, as I've been admiring her extensively here and here). When I took the skirt out of its box I couldn't believe how delicate it was, with all those darling drops of silver peeking out from under the layers. And then I couldn't help but ask myself "uh, and what am I going to wear this with?" :) Challenge accepted! For me the only way to make everyday wearable (in Turin) something so ethereal is dressing it down, so I put on my most comfortable flats, a very basic cotton sweater and a pretty shoulder bag. A ponytail that makes everything look more casual and voilà, I'm ready for a romantic end of summer evening!

Questa nuvola di tulle e' un regalo di Jaclyn, di cui vi ho gia' raccontato un paio di volte, ed e' stata creata da una delle mie designer indipendenti preferite, Alexandra Grecco (anche di lei vi avevo gia' parlato qui e qui). Quando l'ho tirata fuori dalla scatola non credevo a quanto fosse delicata, con tutte quelle gocce d'argento che si nascondevano tra gli innumerevoli strati color cipria. Subito dopo mi sono detta "eh sì, e ora pero' con cosa me la metto questa?" :) Sfida accettata! Per me l'unico modo per rendere portabile (a Torino) una cosa così effimera e' sdrammatizzarla, e così mi sono infilata le mie ballerine piu' comode, un maglioncino che piu' basic non si puo' di cotone blu e una borsa un po' carina in tinta. Capelli raccolti in una coda alta che rende tutto piu' casual e voilà, pronta per una romantica serata di fine estate!

Something secret, something blue

I guess it's about time to tell the truth: I've been keeping a secret from you! Lately I wrote that I have been busy organizing a little something... and it's true, I managed to keep my mouth shut for a long long time :) Back in january, when Alf and I have been travelling to Ireland for work, I said that it was a trip full of surprises and that it meant a lot for both of us. Some of you spied 'something blue' on my ring finger, while some other detective-ladies (right, Ottavia?) guessed it all putting together a few very hidden hints I shared on instagram :) But I'm a practical gal, so let's just make it simple: in exactly one month from today, Alf and I are getting married!

Negli ultimi tempi vi ho raccontato del fatto che stessi organizzando qualcosa di segreto, ed e' proprio così, ho un piccolo segreto che vi tengo nascosto da molti mesi ormai :) A gennaio, quando io e Alf siamo stati in Irlanda per lavoro, scrivevo che era stato un viaggio pieno di sorprese che avrebbe portato novità di cui entrambi eravamo molto contenti. Qualcuna di voi si e' accorta che "qualcosa di blu" e' apparso al dito della mia mano sinistra e qualche altra fanciulla che in un'altra vita era per forza una detective (vero, Ottavia?) ha capito tutto mettendo insieme alcuni indizi che ho seminato su instagram :) Ma siccome sono una signorina pratica, facciamola semplice: tra un mese esatto, preciso preciso, io e Alf ci sposiamo! 

And because I'm a practical gal, I just wanted to keep it quiet, without making big blog announcements, building expectation or causing you diabetes with months of wedding-themed posts :)
Alf and I have been together since 7 years and it was the most natural choice for us to make, but our wedding will be tiny, made with simple things, as untraditional as possible, with a big % of handmade and closer to a happy party in the countryside, surrounded only by the people we love the most. 
But there will be time to tell you more of that, now I'll just tell you about this adorable little town that we visited last week. It's called Candelo, not too far from Turin, and it's considered one of the most beautiful medieval towns in Italy. We took these pictures inside the 'receptum', which is the latin word for shelter and indicates a little town surrounded by walls. This one in particular was in fact built in the late 1200 by the inhabitants to protect themselves during wars and protect their most precious agricultural products: wine and harvests.

Proprio perche' sono una signorina pratica, ho preferito non montar su annunci solenni, aspettative e farvi venire il diabete con mesi di post monotematici :) Alf e io viviamo insieme da 7 anni ed e' stata per noi la scelta piu' naturale, ma il nostro matrimonio sara' una cosa piccola piccola, senza fronzoli, meno tradizionale possibile, con un'altissima percentuale di "fatto in casa" e piu' simile ad una festa di campagna in compagnia delle persone a cui vogliamo piu' bene. Bon, ci sara' tempo per raccontarvi il resto, adesso invece vi racconto di questo paesino meraviglioso che abbiamo visitato la settimana scorsa. Si chiama Candelo, si trova vicino a Biella ed e' considerato uno dei borghi medievali piu' belli d'Italia. Le foto le abbiamo scattate all'interno del "ricetto", che significa rifugio ed indica essenzialmente un luogo difeso, cinto da fortificazione. Questo ricetto in particolare, che risale alla fine del 1200, e' stato costruito dai cittadini per difendersi in tempi di guerra e per proteggere i loro beni piu' preziosi: i vini e i prodotti del grano. 

Oh! And who's this stranger? :D You guessed right, he doesn't show up often here but only because he's too lazy, actually you've already met him here, in my very first outfit post almost two years ago. Ciao Alf :)

Uh! E chi sara' mai questo intruso? :D Avete indovinato, non si fa vedere spesso da queste parti ma solo per pura pigrizia, in realta' lo avevate gia' visto qui, nel mio primissimo outfit post quasi due anni fa. Ciao Alf :)

Birthday girl

Another circle around the sun... Last saturday was my birthday (I'll try my best not to rant about the whole age thing!) and I had an absolutely lovely time, spent mostly basking in the sun. Alf surprised me with this dress, which I have been lusting over since months, oh bless him! I am completely in love with the 40s cut and the cute dancing ladies pattern, it's so beautiful that I keep peeking into my wardrobe, just to make sure it's true! So I put it on immediately and here I am enjoying a delicious strawberry granita with cream on top :)

Un altro giro intorno al sole... Sabato era il mio compleanno (eviterò volutamente di approfondire l'argomento "quanti"!) e la giornata non poteva davvero essere piu' perfetta: vacanza, sole e amici. Alf mi ha sorpresa con questo vestito che desideravo da mesi, santo fidanzato! Quel taglio anni '40, quel pattern con le ballerine... e' delizioso, infatti continuo a sbirciare nel mio armadio per essere sicura che  non me lo sia sognato! E così, appena scartato, l'ho subito indossato per andare a fare una passeggiata e festeggiare con una bella granita con panna :)

Chie Mihara - A/W 2012

I'm pretty sure you know by now how much I love Chie Mihara shoes. Other than the fact that they are cute with a hint of retro, they're so comfortable that I can easily walk in them all day, and I'm speaking of heels here! The Goia boots in particular, I think they're the softest Chie that I own. When I came across the autumn collection the other day I knew I would have fallen in love with many of the new styles so I couldn't help but share it with you :) These are the ones I like the most, you can see the rest of the lookbook here. Which ones are your favorite?

Ormai avrete ben capito quanto mi piacciano le scarpe Chie Mihara. A parte il fatto che siano tanto carine, particolari e un po' retro', sono così comode che riesco a camminarci tranquillamente anche tutto il giorno. E occhio, sto parlando di tacchi! In particolare questi low boots "Goia", che non mi avete ancora visto ma rimediero' appena fara' un po' piu' fresco, sono morbidi come pantofole (e adesso sono anche in saldo, il che li rende ancora piu' belli)! Qualche giorno fa mi e' capitata davanti agli occhi la nuova collezione, e come temevo ci sono tantissimi modelli che mi piacciono. Questi sono i miei preferiti, il resto del lookbook e' qui. Quali sono le vostre preferite?
