I've got to admit, I've always had a bit of a weakness for magazine quizzes and everything that involves silly forms to fill out, so imagine my surprise when I found this 'vanity test' from a 1960s encyclopedia for young ladies! This comprehensive collection was traditionally given by italian mothers to their daughters to educate them on how to become perfect housewives, learning how to care for their own family and household. So imagine twelve big, heavy volumes full of sewing, cooking, knitting and gardening tips, from 'how to tie your dad's tie' to 'hot to set up the table for a special dinner' or 'how to use hot rollers', and even 'how to behave in front of an older boy"! Reading these pages after more than 50 years from their release can be quite funny (sometimes even a little embarrassing), but I'm a nostalgic at heart and this collection is no doubt one of my favorite vintage treasures.
If you're curious, I translated the quiz for you after the jump!
