The invisible city

all images photographed by me and Alf

"Memory's images, once they are fixed in words, are erased" Polo said. "Perhaps I am afraid of losing Venice all at once, if I speak of it. Or perhaps, speaking of other cities, I have already lost it, little by little."
- Italo Calvino, Invisible cities

"Le immagini della memoria, una volta fissate con le parole, si cancellano - disse Marco - Forse Venezia ho paura di perderla tutta in una volta, se ne parlo. O forse parlando d'altre città, l'ho già perduta a poco a poco."
- Italo Calvino, Le città invisibili

Beautiful photos! I now wish I had shot in black and white rather than colour as it would have been a clever way of disguising the grey skies and drizzly rain. Oh well, will have to get them developed and then find out! xxxxx

Stupende Alessandra! Queste foto sono stupende! Raccontano. E non c'è niente di meglio per una foto.
Buona serata:)

Gorgeous photos, I would love to visit! You resemble a sixties starlet in this series. <3

Magari fosse sempre così(sgombera da turisti) come nelle vostre bellissime foto.

These images are SO lovely. I love the mood these grainy photos create, it goes so well with Venice's allure. I'm visiting the city in February and just cannot wait!

Oh Ale, what a quote.. Your breathtaking black-and-white film photos really are evocative of a sense of mouldering, water-lapped beauty. It’s been a dream of mine to visit Venice ever since I first learned of it and Carnevale in an anthropology class many years ago. One day I hope to see you there xox
