ORLA KIELY AW14: Raining Cats and Dogs

It was literally raining cats and dogs at the Orla Kiely presentation this season at London Fashion Week. My dear friend Cat and I were seated on benches around a charming set inspired by 'The Umbrellas of Cherbourg', while a soundtrack of quiet raindrops, barks and meows started up and the ladies elegantly walked out in glossy belted macs with newspapers and adorable transparent umbrellas in hand.

Everything about this collection was perfectly desirable, imagine adorable prints with dogs, ditsy cats and flowers on plush velvet, teddy bear wool and curly shearling. I loved the 60s style dresses, the knitted sweaters and the cigarette trousers, but most of all I wish I could wrap myself in one of those soft pastel coats and walk outside with a boxy bag and my hair worn in a side ponytail. There was a strong 60s feel to the collection and once again Orla was able to give the designs a fresh and practical twist, making them perfect for the modern gal.

As you might remember last season I was absolutely over the moon when I discovered that the beautiful shoes worn by the girls during the show were part of an Orla Kiely x Clarks collaboration. Well, she did it again and this collection features the most adorable block heels patent mary janes that a girl can dream of. Thank you so much Orla and your team for another wonderful presentation!

Thanks for sharing those beautiful pics! I would be dead jealous, but I think you are one of Orla's loveliest poster girl on the blogging sphere, I guess nobody deserved to go more than you.
How on earth are we going to wait almost a year to deck ourselves in those beauties? Although spring already seems to be nudging winter away, those pieces would totally be wearable at the moment.
I'm curious : who was the lady in front of the mic ? Was she actually singing or just pretending ? I've search all blog accounts to see if the show had a themed soundtrack, but no info leaked on that.

Thank you so much everyone! ♡

@Solange Garnier - the soundtrack was mainly raindrops, meows and little barks and at the end of the show the girl in the brocade dress started singing live, it was absolutely adorable. Thank you for your sweet words! x
